Beth Hornsby of @HornsbyFarms uses #SweetGrownAlabama produce to make the best small batch jams and jellies we've ever had. She recently shared some tips on how she uses her jams and sweet pepper jellies to add big flavor to her favorite dishes.
Tip 1: a sweet and spicy glaze
Wish equal parts jelly or jam and water in a small saucepan over low heat until the jelly is dissolved. Brush over root vegetable, meat, poultry, or seafood before roasting.
Tip 2: easy and delicious frosting
Combine 1 cup of softened cream cheese with a half cup of jam and a little milk if needed to thin the frosting. Spread on banana or zucchini bread, carrot cake, or muffins.
Tip 3: dress a salad
Whisk a teaspoon of jam or jelly with a tablespoon of good quality vinegar until it is dissolved. Then whisk in 2 to 3 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil or grape seed oil, a pinch of salt, and a half teaspoon of mustard (optional). Drizzle over your favorite salad.
Tip 4: pepper perfection
Whip up a perfect appetizer in seconds by pairing a delightfully sweet and spicy pepper jelly with cream cheese, goat cheese, baked Brie, or even pimento cheese.
